Abbott Freestyle Libre Licensed For Children

So excited to announce that the Abbott Freestyle Libre, has finally been licensed for children, aged over 4 years old. The flash glucose monitoring system was launched at the end of 2014, but at that time it was only licensed for adults. Despite this hundreds of children have been using it in the UK since it’s launch, including us.

It’s a fantastic bit of kit, it comprises of a sensor that is worn on the arm and a handheld scanner. So instead of pricking to get blood glucose results you can just scan. It’s game changing and so much cheaper than a full CGMS system. I’m sure we will see many more children embracing the Freestyle Libre in coming months now it has been licensed for children.
